Miao Intangible Cultural Heritage: Guaxin • Yang Chunlin: Butterfly “Breaking Cocoon”

On March 29th, on the stage of AW24 China International Fashion Week, Guo Chaoxin • Yang Chunlin officially released the Miao Intangible Cultural Heritage New National Trend: Butterfly “Breaking Cocoon” Men’s Collection. With modern fashion techniques and a focus on Chinese aesthetics, the collection cleverly combines traditional Miao embroidery with men’s fashion design, showcasing the unique charm of Miao intangible cultural heritage and presenting a new trend in national fashion for men.

It is reported that in this season’s designs, in addition to Miao embroidery, Guo Chaoxin also incorporated Miao wax dyeing, Dong embroidery, Shui ethnic group horse-tail embroidery, Yi ethnic group applique embroidery, brocade weaving, hairpins, and other intangible cultural heritage crafts. Patterns are extracted from traditional “Butterflies and Flowers” embroidery patterns from the Ming and Qing dynasties, infused with more innovative designs. They are boldly applied to the clothing, making the patterns feel both familiar and unfamiliar, both antique and fashionable.
